How much do I have to pay?
What you pay depends on a number of factors. Please see our rates page for further information or contact us directly to talk about your circumstances.

Do I have to pay before you return my document?
All new clients are required to pay for their editing before work commences and this is normally done via direct debit or through PayPal. If you are a registered business, we invoice you once the work is completed and payment is required within 14 days.

Why do I have to show you some of my document before you can tell me how much it will cost to edit?
We request this so that the process is fair for both of us. We need to see your document so that we can assess whether it will need a light, moderate or heavy edit. This in turn gives us an estimation of the time it will take for the editors to complete your project. This way, you will get a fair and competitive price. For more information, see our rates page.

Editing

Do you write first drafts for students?
No. Please see our academic editing policy.

What is the difference between proofreading and copyediting?
When Dot Comma proofreads your document, we check it for spelling and grammatical errors. We also check your document for formatting consistency (e.g. fonts, spacing, styles and headings). Copyediting your document is essentially a more detailed process. While it involves proofreading, it might also involve rewriting sections of your document for smoother reading and/or adjusting the structure of your text to make it more logical and concise. When you send us a sample of your document, we can discuss what your needs might be, so that you fully understand the editing process and exactly how our editors will work with your document.

May I choose the editor I want to have work on my document?
We will suggest an editor whose background is similar to the needs of your project. If you are happy with this editor, you may request the same editor each time you submit a document for editing.

What are your editors' qualifications?

Will you revise my document if I need further changes?
We provide revisions at no extra charge, so long as they are reasonable and are within the boundaries of the original project.

I know you work with text but can you help me make my presentation look good as well?
Certainly. We can format your document according to your own style sheet or we can create one for you. We work with all Office products and can make your PowerPoint presentations, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets look professional and stylish.

Do you provide graphic design services?
No.

My document is highly confidential. How can I be assured that it will be kept this way?
Confidentiality of your intellectual property is our priority and is therefore taken very seriously. Please read our privacy policy so that you know exactly how we protect your privacy and your confidential documents.

Do you work on weekends?
Yes. We are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
